Following the idea of Mrs.Netzer-Guggenbichler we bought a dozen of little suns and sent them to Guatemala. These are little yellow objects with centrally located LED lamps, whose energy is fed by a solar modul i.e. the sun. Fully loaded the lamps shine brightly for 5 hours or with dimmed light for 10 hours. They are designed by the artist Olafur Eliasson, they are used worldwide, especially in regions where there is no functioning powersystem.
The director of the school near the city`s main landfill uses her little sun mainly as flashlight to lighten her way during the night or at dawn. For our auxiliary nurses they can help to light up rooms, for example during vaccination campaigns in remote villages.
